From Concept to Connection: Leveraging Video to Promote DE&I in Your Company

In today’s rapidly evolving workplace, promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) is more than just a buzzword — it’s a vital strategy for fostering a thriving, innovative, and sustainable business. But with so much information available right at our fingertips, it can sometimes be challenging to choose how best to promote those policies for your company.

One of the most powerful tools to consider using is video.

There are tremendous benefits in leveraging video to promote DE&I within your business. As a medium that combines visuals, audio, and storytelling, video can engage viewers in ways that other forms of communication simply can’t. Complex concepts can be easily illustrated through motion graphics or animation. For distribution, using captions, subtitles, or even audio dubbing in different languages can make your videos accessible and inclusive to the whole team. And when it comes to producing these videos, hiring a team with the right experience, knowledge, and compassion to handle your project with the care it deserves can make all the difference.

A Better Tomorrow”

This year, we had the privilege to develop a series of videos to promote a new DE&I framework for a national company. Our clients reached out with a need to create an engaging video that would highlight the different areas of this framework across their large workforce. Since there seems to be no one-size-fits-all approach to DE&I messaging and video production, we started by discussing our client’s goals and strategies to make sure that the method we took for filming and editing was right for them.

In our experience, we’ve seen that audiences often resonate more with personal stories rather than scripted messaging. With that in mind, we presented the concept of “A Better Tomorrow”, a “documentary style” series of videos featuring teammates across the company who had really taken initiative and implemented their own DE&I policies within their own teams. Each story would directly connect to one of the pillars of the new framework, providing a real-life example of the framework in action. We sent micro-crews out to individuals across the country, filming a “day in their life”, and used candid interviews and b-roll to knit together a short and meaningful story. This personal look into their day-to-day life fostered a sense of intimacy and inspiration, while also making the broader ideas of the framework more relatable to viewers, and effectively brought in more understanding and awareness from teammates on a large scale.

The success of this series proved that when you tailor video content to your company’s unique goals and culture, it can spark lasting change, inspire employees, and ensure that DE&I becomes more than just a set of policies — but a shared commitment to a better tomorrow.
